GOD’S FINGER

Palec Boży (God's Finger), video 45' (directed by Kajetan Pochylski, 2017) shows a finger turning the pages of a calendar. The ‘finger of God’ visible in the film travels two thousand years through time, covering the period from 2017 to 4017.

The work was also shown in the form of a perfor...mance: in a specially prepared, prominent place, for an hour (or longer), I move my finger through successive years, using a calendar application available on a touchscreen phone. Thanks to the use of a webcam, an enlarged image of my fingers is simultaneously visible on a large screen. This activity leads me to a rather striking discovery: moving through time in this way, I have reached the year 4789 in my activities so far, and it remains a mystery to me what point in time marks the end of this journey.
